The Swedish stealth submarine designed for a harsher fight over undersea cables

Saab's A26 submarine was built for the new threat of undersea cable sabotage

The A26  is Saab's next-generation Swedish submarine, built for stealth, seabed warfare and the growing threat of undersea cable sabotage.

In our video, Stuart Rumble looks at the features designed for that fight, including a bow-mounted multi-mission portal for divers, unmanned underwater vehicles and other specialist kit.

The submarine is also designed to lie on the seabed and stay submerged for extended periods using air-independent propulsion.

Armed with heavyweight torpedoes, low-signature technology and systems for intelligence warfare, it is being developed for the frontline of the underwater battle.
